Interior PaintingYou can’t wait for the day the painters arrive. You have picked out all your colors, and now you’re ready to see your Virginia home transformed. However, before painting day is here, there are a few things you could be doing to get your home ready for interior painting. Consider these tips from our pros at Gemini Wallcovering & Renovations, Inc.

1. Make a plan.

If you haven’t already, be sure to coordinate with your painters to verify when they’ll be at your home and how long the project will take. Painting an entire home can take some time, so you may need to work out a schedule that doesn’t kick you out of your home entirely.

2. Remove wall hangings.

Do you have mounted wall shelves? Artwork? Pictures of your friends and family members? It’s a good idea to remove these wall hangings carefully and store them in a safe space before the painting crew arrives. That way, they can get right to work prepping the walls and getting ready to paint.

3. Push furniture back from the walls.

The more accessible you make the walls, the easier it will be for painters to get started when the day arrives. Be sure to ask your painter how much space they’ll need. That way, when it’s time to paint, they can focus on prepping the space and getting to the fun task of trimming and rolling the walls. However, before you start pushing furniture, make sure you don’t overexert yourself. We don’t want to have anyone injured moving a sofa, so if you need to recruit help, then do it.
